Winter Light by Bruce Ray Smith is a marvelous pocket book based on one man's meditations as to his position with God. It is a condensed yet forceful work that compels the introspective reader to take a deeper measure of himself and his God. Careful attention is given to some of the issues that confront man in his ongoing war that rail against the Human spirit. Among these are fear, pride and inattentiveness. Written in a style that would remind the reader of the works of John Donne, it is easy to see where the writer gained his influence. One gets the feeling as he reads, that fresh air has been breathed into a stale body. Careful attention ought be given if one is to enjoy this truly remarkable and illuminating book.
